Why I chose this course?

Why I chose psychology?

Since I was kid, I've always been dreaming to become a doctor. Not a medical doctor but a psychiatric one. I use to tell my dad, that's what I really want to be. I find this course very interesting not just because this is my passion, also because i really love to talk. But then, till now my mom would always tell me this "it's better that you become a nurse, so you can marry a doctor someday" funny, right? Still, i chose what i really want, and it made me really happy.

Psychology (from Greek ψyχή, psykhē,"; and -λογία, -logia) is an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental functions and behavior. Psychologists study such phenomena as perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior, and interpersonal relationships. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity, including issues related to everyday life (e.g. family, education, and employment) and the treatment of mental health problems. Psychologists attempt to understand the role of these functions in individual and social behavior, while also exploring the underlying physiological and neurological processes. Psychology includes many sub-fields of study and applications concerned with such areas as human development, sports, health, industry, media, and law. Psychology incorporates research from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

Right now, I'm still in my first year. I still be needing 3 years more! To become and to fulfill my passion. However, when I close my eyes at night, i can only think of this "moms knows best" then I would cry. But at the end of the day, i can see in her eyes that she's happy for me. I know someday that she will be proud of me, because i had made the right decision for myself and for my future.
